Location: Skydive the Ranch, 55 Sand Hill Road, Gardiner, New York. Spectators encouraged!

Wish Jump 2016 is the sixth annual skydiving fundraiser for Make-A-Wish® Northeast New York – the most unique and exciting fundraiser in the Capital Region! In fact, I am unaware of any other ongoing, growing, skydiving fundraiser in the country.

In 2011, after finishing my first year as a volunteer wish granter, I wanted to hold a fundraiser for the local chapter, but I really wanted to do something that involved a little more adrenaline than a bake sale. Having gone skydiving in 2003 while in Hawaii, this seemed like the perfect alternative to cookies and bundt cake.

Wish Jump participants (“Wish Jumpers”) spend a few months fundraising, and then come together to spend an exciting day skydiving at Skydive the Ranch while family, friends, and spectators watch and cheer from the ground. Between 2011 and 2015, 84 Wish Jumpers, including chapter CEO William Trigg, Ph.D., have participated in this event and have raised nearly $140,000. Funds raised are used to grant wishes to local wish children living in the 518 region who have life-threatening medical conditions. The fundraising goal this year is $40,000.

Make-A-Wish® grants the heartfelt wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, enhancing the child’s human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Inspired by wish children and their families who bravely face fear and uncertainty as they cope with, and most often overcome, life-threatening medical conditions, Wish Jumpers will raise money that helps make wishes come true, and then come together to test their own bravery by skydiving on Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Thank you for your ongoing support. This ain’t no bake sale!
